Wedding cakes are a major attraction at any wedding reception. More than something that you can feast on, wedding cakes have become an essential part of the decoration. The first thing that normally catches the attention of the guests at your reception is the cake. Therefore, careful consideration should be taken when choosing your wedding cake. With a little patience and the quick tips below, picking the best cake should be, well, a piece of cake.

Choosing the Cake Designer

If you have an idea on where the best bakery is in your city, then head to that place immediately. You can also ask for recommendations from your friends or family members. Once you have decided on 3 to 5 possibilities, set up the appointment with each one. Ask to see photos of wedding cakes made for other clients. Request references and contact them to find out how satisfied they were with the bakery and cake designers services.

Wedding Cake Taste Test

Aside from the look of the cake, keep in mind that cakes are made primarily for eating. They should taste good as well as look good. The texture and flavor of the cake is important. When scouting for a bakeshop, ask for cake samples of the flavors that interest you. If they do not allow this, move on to the next possible option.

Cost primarily depends on the cake design and size. You will have to pay for the cake decorator on top of the cost of the cake itself. Know what your budget is ahead of time. Make sure that it will be well-preserved until the reception. Never place your wedding cake near the dance floor or where there is a heavy flow of traffic. You might just see your cake fall down. That is not a good sight at all! Be sure to check the sturdiness of the table you would place your cake.

The bridesmaid dress trends change with bridal gowns every year and the same goes for bridesmaid dresses. in 2010, the dresses will be bright and short, unlike earlier years.

No more satin, cotton has taken over. Casual fabric have taken over in popularity. Dresses made of cotton blends and tutu netting have taken over. But if you’re a bride who has chosen to tie the knot during winter time, there are cool new ideas to bring the season into your nuptials. Toss aside the pale color palettes and spring blooms, because winter weddings have a style that’s all their own. Read on and use any one of these ideas and add some magic to your winter wedding.

Start with a Theme-

Winter weddings are best when a theme is incorporated into the festivities. Winter white, silver and gold, blue Christmas, an evergreen or a snowflake theme are some great places to start. Lush velvety fabrics and rich shades of color are also very fitting for winter weddings. If the wedding takes place during the holidays, don’t be afraid to add traditional touches like candy canes, stars or ornaments into the mix.

Go with Greenery
Instead of only using traditional wedding flowers for your winter wedding, add some wintery touches with greenery. Natural additions like pinecones and greenery like holly leaves or evergreens give seasonal flair to ordinary bouquets and centerpieces. If you use pinecones, keep in mind that they can be painted nearly any color and sprayed with glitter or faux snow. You can also mix greenery with flowers for a unique and textured look. In 2003, we changed the name from Exclusively Yours to The Cake Guys. We continued to operate out of a single residence until March 2008, moving into our current location at the intersection of Clark Road and Camp Wisdom in Duncanville, Texas. Since then, the company has experienced an influx of business, recognition and growth, accumulating many awards and accolades from clients and industry insiders from Texas and around the nation.
